How to Add a Watermark to a PDF

Stamp text like DRAFT or CONFIDENTIAL across every page of a PDF before you share it.

Why watermark a PDF

A watermark tells readers how to treat a document at a glance — that it is a draft, confidential, a sample, or owned by you. It also discourages people from passing the file off as final or their own.

How to add a watermark

Upload your PDF to the watermark tool.

Type the watermark text, for example `CONFIDENTIAL` or `DRAFT`.

Convert and download the stamped PDF.

The watermark is placed diagonally across every page so it is visible without hiding the content underneath.

Choosing good watermark text

Keep it short and clear. Common choices are `DRAFT`, `CONFIDENTIAL`, `SAMPLE`, `COPY`, or a company name. Long sentences are harder to read as a watermark.

After watermarking

Keep the original un-watermarked file for your own records, and share only the watermarked copy.
