ZIP, RAR, and 7Z Conversion: Safer Archive Workflows
Convert or extract archive files carefully, check contents before sharing, and avoid unsafe file surprises.

Archive files can contain many things
ZIP, RAR, and 7Z files are useful because they package multiple files into one download. They are common for project folders, photos, documents, software assets, and backups.
They also need care. An archive can contain hidden folders, old files, private records, or unsafe file types.
Check contents before converting
Before converting RAR to ZIP, ZIP to RAR, or 7Z to ZIP, inspect what is inside if possible. Remove files that do not belong in the package. This is especially important before sending archives to clients, schools, employers, or public forms.
Extract only when you trust the source
Do not extract archives from unknown sources unless you trust the sender. Archive extraction can reveal executable files, scripts, or paths that should not be handled casually.
FileSwitch blocks unsafe archive contents during extraction. That is intentional protection, not a broken conversion.
Keep archives organized
Use clear folder names and avoid nesting too deeply. If the recipient only needs PDFs or images, consider sending those final files directly instead of a large archive.
Final recommendation
Use archive conversion for packaging and compatibility, but review contents first. A safe archive is clean, expected, and free from hidden surprises.
